Issey Miyake (1938–2022) was a pioneering Japanese fashion designer renowned for his innovative fusion of Eastern aesthetics and Western technology. Born in Hiroshima and a survivor of the 1945 atomic bombing, Miyake's early experiences profoundly influenced his design philosophy. He studied graphic design at Tokyo's Tama Art University before moving to Paris in 1965 to study fashion, working with esteemed designers Guy Laroche and Hubert de Givenchy.
