Margaret Howell

Margaret Howell

'I think of myself as a hands-on designer. For me make is integral to my design philosophy. It is crucial how a piece of clothing feels when worn. I’ve always wanted clothes to be the way I drew them – relaxed and lived in, a natural look. I find men’s clothes interesting in their structure, feel and functionality. I started by designing men’s clothes, and then found that women wanted them.

I’m inspired by the authenticity I can find in nature, people and places, and I think it is the same quality I look for in the materials I choose. For example, the feel of hand-woven Harris tweed and the irregular slub of Irish linen. I feel passionate about landscape, and its connection with such fabrics and the skilled people who weave them.

I like to work with manufacturers who understand and share this passion for make and quality of fabric: specialists such as Mackintosh and their part hand-made raincoats, and the Scottish knitting factories that continue their heritage of producing the best cashmere in the world.

I also find these qualities in other people’s work. In 1970 I was encouraged by finding – at a jumble sale – an old, yet finely stitched pinstripe shirt. Today I still find it exciting to hunt out objects I consider to be well-made and enduring. In particular, mid-20th century products such as Anglepoise lamps, Ercol furniture, and Robert Welch stainless steel cutlery, represent the best of our heritage of timeless functional design.

I enjoy pulling these threads of British tradition, quality and skill together in clothes that are meant to be worn in the real world, where good design is about living with thoughtful style.'

Marco Rambaldi

Marco Rambaldi

Marco Rambaldi brand was born in Bologna, Italy, in 2017. It’s here that the history of inclusion, upcycling and gender bender began.

In the era of mass production, where quantity overcomes quality, we strongly believe in people and in their ideas. Kindness is the weapon we use. Our mission is to find excellence in materials processed by the skilled hands of Italian artisan workshops and share it with the world.

Marco Rambaldi offers a total look, with a focus on knitwear and outerwear, including dresses, tops, shirts, skirts, trousers and t-shirts. He also added leather accessories, such as bags and shoes, in recent seasons.

In Rambaldi’s creative vision, the world of the Italian bourgeoisie of the seventies, collides in its repetitive daily expressive codes, with a radically young, emotional, transversal, new aesthetic. Those two generations eternally confronted colliding in their primary precepts of conservation and subversion: a coffee table in which copies of historical patinated fashion magazines such as “Sguardo italiano” or “Linea Italiana” are mixed with rough-looking punk fanzines, unfinished, desperate.

In Marco Rambaldi’s narrative there is at the same time a sense of annihilation and a necessary need for survival, synthesis of opposites, love for the present.

The element of the iconic heart of the brand is declined in the knitwear both in the classic rainbow jacquard and in the lace stitch with mohair thread, making the tops and long dresses transparent.

The crochet garments are not only unique, they are sustainable and created by assembling existing antique doilies with shapes and new doilies made by our craftsmen. In addition to the multicolored classics, they are also transformed into elegant evening dresses by embracing the black color created with artisanal dyes. They express and convert a memory of the past: from elements linked to the housewife they become a new symbol that, worn on unique garments, transform this memory of the past into the future vision of a strong feminine and feminist woman.

Made in Italy is finally reinterpreted in its cultural context, not only used as a synonym of quality which is the matrix of creative force, not its goal. Because only through the recovery of what is undeniably old but that belongs to us will we be able to understand where we come from and what is the world we want to build.

Marco Rambaldi is distributed by OTHER/WISE based in Paris in Ground floor gallery, 7 rue Notre Dame de Nazareth. The communication is supervised by Reference Studios press office based in Milan in via Cappuccini 8 and based in Berlin in Potsdamer Str. 100.

Manors Golf

Manors Golf

It’s unsurprising that pros, amateurs, commentators, analysts, apps, brands and businesses alike clamber over one another looking for an edge. A bigger, better driver. More spin. Less spin. Better performing clothes. An insatiable appetite for data.

We’ve become so obsessed with perfect scores, we’ve forgotten that fundamentally golf should be about having fun. That the worst scorecards don’t mark the people we meet or the experiences we share.

We built MANORS on the idea that golf isn’t a sport to be mastered but a game to be explored. If you feel the same way, there’s always room for your clubs in the boot.

The MANORS Team.

Maison Michel

Maison Michel

The story of Maison Michel begins in 1936 when Auguste Michel opened his millinery at 65 rue Sainte-Anne, Paris. In the 1960s, he entrusted the House to Pierre and Claudine Debard, who took charge of it until 2002. He was an entrepreneur, she was a milliner and together they successfully ran the company for many years thanks to their ability to meet the needs of an era marked by a revolution in hairstyles and the galloping success of ready-to-wear.

By the 1970s Maison Michel had become the hat maker of choice for Parisian haute couture, which was booming at the time. The Debards reorganised the workshops to satisfy this demand and most importantly reintroduced the Weismann, an antique machine for sewing straw still used by milliners at the House today.

Embodying the exceptional craftsmanship of a French luxury brand, Maison Michel joined Chanel’s Métiers d’art in 1997. Alongside collaborations with ready-to-wear and haute couture ateliers, as well as its bespoke service, the House launched its eponymous line in 2006 under the impetus of Laetitia Crahay, artistic director at that time. Its first boutique opened in 2013 on rue Cambon.

In 2015, Priscilla Royer was appointed to create the collections and the House image at Maison Michel. The creative director’s hat designs are innovative, capturing the zeitgeist and responding to the cult of individuality that defines our era. Priscilla Royer has made headwear accessible once more by developing pieces that suit both women and men, allowing each individual to express their personality. A Maison Michel hat is the ultimate finishing touch to any silhouette.

Maharishi

Maharishi

(MAA·HUH·REE·SHEE) Sanskrit: Great vision

Maharishi (mahā) was founded by Hardy Blechman in 1994 with the vision to create environmentally conscious, durable, utilitarian clothing. Collections have always included hemp, organic cottons and upcycled military clothing, reflecting a respect for nature whilst utilising the latest technology.

They explore the dualistic nature of the universe, often expressed through blending Eastern and Western artworks and silhouettes, combining hi-vis or reflective with camouflage patterns and taking a pacifist approach to military-grade design. Maharishi’s use of camouflage aims to detach disruptive patterns from their military associations, reclaiming the symbolic value away from war and promoting their true roots in nature, and development by artists.
