Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A. is a renowned Italian luxury fashion house, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship, innovative designs, and enduring influence in the global fashion industry. Founded in 1927 by Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence, Italy, the company began as a bespoke shoemaker's atelier. Ferragamo's journey into shoemaking started at a young age; at nine, he crafted his first pair of shoes for his sister's First Communion. After honing his skills in Naples and briefly studying at the University of Southern California, Ferragamo moved to the United States in 1914. He worked at the Thomas G. Plant Shoe Factory in Boston and later opened a shoe-repair shop in Santa Barbara. In 1923, he established the Hollywood Boot Shop, creating footwear for film stars like Joan Crawford and Gloria Swanson, which solidified his reputation in the entertainment industry.
