Santa Cruz Skateboards is one of the most iconic and enduring brands in skateboarding history. Founded in 1973 by Richard Novak, Doug Haut, and Jay Shuirman—three surfer friends from Santa Cruz, California—the company began as NHS, Inc., an acronym derived from their surnames. Initially focused on surfboards, NHS pivoted to skateboards after receiving an unexpected order of 500 boards, utilising surplus fiberglass materials. This move marked the birth of Santa Cruz Skateboards, which quickly gained popularity and became a staple in the skateboarding community
