Tommy Hilfiger
Tommy Hilfiger (born March 24, 1951, in Elmira, New York, USA) is an American fashion designer and the founder of the global lifestyle brand Tommy Hilfiger.
He began his career in the 1970s by opening a small store called People’s Place, where he sold jeans and other youth-oriented styles. In 1985, he launched his namesake brand, introducing his first signature menswear collection that combined classic American style with a modern, sporty twist.
Hilfiger quickly became known for his “preppy with a twist” aesthetic — clean lines, red-white-blue color palette, and collegiate influences that celebrate American cool. The brand gained massive popularity in the 1990s, especially within pop culture and hip-hop, thanks to endorsements from artists like Aaliyah and Snoop Dogg.
Today, Tommy Hilfiger is a global fashion empire, offering clothing, denim, footwear, fragrance, and home products in over 100 countries. The designer himself remains an advocate for inclusivity, sustainability, and creativity in fashion.
Signature style: Timeless, preppy, and all-American — blending sophistication with a youthful, optimistic energy.
