Topshop
Topshop is a British fashion retailer known for its trendy, affordable, and youth-oriented clothing.
Founded in 1964 as a section within the Peter Robinson department store in Sheffield, it became an independent brand in 1970. Topshop grew rapidly through the late 20th century, becoming a high-street fashion icon associated with fast-moving trends, denim, and stylish basics for young women.
During the 2000s, under Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia Group, Topshop reached global fame — especially after collaborations with top designers like Kate Moss, who launched several successful capsule collections. The flagship store on London’s Oxford Street became a fashion destination and cultural landmark.
However, as online shopping and fast-fashion competitors like Zara, H&M, and ASOS rose, Topshop’s market position declined. In 2020, Arcadia Group went into administration, and in 2021, ASOS acquired Topshop, Topman, and Miss Selfridge, transforming the brand into a digital-only retailer.
Today, Topshop exists primarily online under ASOS, continuing to offer stylish, contemporary womenswear with a distinctly British edge — combining modern street style with accessible fashion.
