Toy Machine

Toy Machine is an American skateboard company founded in 1993 by professional skater and artist Ed Templeton. Based in Huntington Beach, California, the brand is known for its bold, cartoonish graphics, irreverent humor, and DIY punk-inspired attitude that have made it a cult favorite in skate culture.

Under Templeton’s creative direction, Toy Machine combines skateboarding, art, and social commentary. The brand’s graphics — often featuring its signature “Monster”, “Sect”, and “Eye” characters — reflect Templeton’s distinctive illustration style and mix of irony, rebellion, and dark wit.

Toy Machine has sponsored and shaped the careers of several influential skaters, including Brian Anderson, Elissa Steamer, Billy Marks, and Leo Romero, and is known for its iconic skate videos such as Welcome to Hell (1996), Good & Evil (2004), and Suffer the Joy (2006).

Beyond skateboards, Toy Machine produces apparel, accessories, and art-inspired merch, maintaining a raw, authentic edge that stays true to its roots in independent, artist-driven skateboarding culture.
