Thom Browne Resort 2024

Thom Browne Resort 2024

Thom Browne approached his signature boxy suiting in a fresh and revitalised manner for Resort 2024. The collection featured vibrant colours, intricate layering, amazing fabric manipulations, and, surprisingly, flying sheep.

You read that correctly: building on the success of Browne's Hector bags inspired by his miniature dachshund, he expanded the playful accessories line to include a delightful selection of lambs. These lambs in black, grey, white, light blue, orange, and other shades were depicted as flying over the models' heads in the Resort collection's lookbook. Serving as both whimsical and functional elements, the sheep with handles showcased Browne's affinity for "fun fashion," a theme that resonated throughout the entire line.

As expected, the collection strongly emphasised tailoring, combining looks with exaggerated proportions, intricate pin-tuck detailing, bold shoulders, and dramatic hemlines. The silhouettes were either long or short, avoiding anything in between, while the textiles received elevated treatments such as intricate embroideries, shimmering silver metallic finishes, and matching sequins. The colour palette transitioned from traditional greys and dark tones to light pastels, revealing Browne's departure from his usual seasonal boundaries.

This whimsical range is a teaser for Browne's upcoming debut couture show, set to be his first-ever. If his previous ready-to-wear shows are any indication, it is expected to push the boundaries even further. The designer will present his men's and women's couture collection in Paris on July 3, marking the start of his brand's 20th-anniversary celebrations.
