Tom Dixon (born 1959, Tunisia) is a British designer known for his bold, industrial approach to lighting and furniture. A self-taught creative, he began welding salvaged materials into furniture after a motorcycle accident, leading to his breakthrough “S Chair” for Cappellini in the late 1980s.

He later served as Head of Design at Habitat before founding his own brand, Tom Dixon Ltd., in 2002, and Design Research Studio in 2007. His designs blend craftsmanship, raw materials, and modern technology, often featuring metal finishes like copper and brass.

Dixon’s work is showcased in major museums such as MoMA and the V&A, and he was awarded an OBE in 2001 for services to British design. Today, his brand operates globally, known for timeless, innovative products that fuse industrial aesthetics with luxury.
