Yohji Yamamoto
Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese-born fashion designer whose groundbreaking aesthetic of oversized silhouettes, deconstructed tailoring and predominantly black colour palettes transformed global fashion; born in Tokyo in 1943, he initially studied law before turning to fashion and making his Paris debut in 1981, after which he built his eponymous label and sister lines (including Y’s and Y-3) that combine Japanese design sensibilities with avant-garde tailoring and streetwear influences.
